She was the earliest Nature spirit in ancient Rome to be elevated to a goddess. Flora became the goddess of springtime and rebirth. Botticelli mentioned that Farnese Flora was his inspiration for the painting, Primavera because one of her ancient temples was close to his childhood home in Farnese.
