Pandora and Hope

Pandora’s Box is an eternal subject painted by many great masters. In Greek myth, Pandora has been given a box that contains all of the evils of the world which she has been ordered never to open. When Pandora no longer can contain her curiosity, she opens the box and all of the evils of the world flow out. In the original Greek myth, she closes the box in panic, trapping Hope. In this work Hope escapes and consoles Pandora.
