In pearls I took the most classic of themes and replaced the typical companion with a very large and not very delicate moose and put her into a not so typical setting… wearing a Victorian hat and pearls. It was great fun to paint in its simplicity… the girl the moose and the tea set. I remember wondering if I could really get away with putting a hat on a moose…. …Contentment. I like the simplicity of this… two friends having a tea party… never mind one of the friends is a moose. Tea party is a theme I have enjoyed using over and over again… but this time I brought it up close. The pearls were added as an afterthought… they became such an important part of the piece I named it after them.
