A word from Michael Parkes: In 2009 I attempted to do small portraits of angels and capture their different energies. It was a way for me to try to make personal contact with these different living beings. The angel in Golden Finch represents that essence of Spring…of renewal, regeneration. And, as a side note, I started these paintings with no specific direction and let the angels direct me. In a sense, they were painting their own portraits.
